28.07.2024: 2112 UTC: Posn: 01:03.45N – 103:40.54E, Singapore Straits.
Five robbers boarded a bulk carrier while it was underway. The Third Engineer (3/E) spotted the robbers on the poop deck. One of the robbers threatened the 3/E with a knife, prompting him to retreat into the accommodation block and secure the entrance. Alarm raised, PA announcement made, and all deck lights switched on. The Vessel Traffic Information System (VTIS) and nearby ships were notified via VHF. Crew mustered and a thorough search of the ship was conducted. A patrol boat followed the ship and upon anchoring, the coast guard boarded the ship to investigate. No robbers were found onboard. Nothing reported stolen.
