Ship’s crew preparing for STS cargo operations onboard an anchored tanker noticed robbers attempting to board the vessel and informed the OOW who raised the alarm. All crew mustered on the bridge, ship’s whistle sounded continuously, additional lights switched on, search lights directed towards the robbers and all access to the accommodation secured. Seeing the crew alertness, the robbers aborted the boarding and moved away.
